Who is driving
About Tackle Taxi
A one-van operation that does one thing: gets anglers’ gear from a UK doorstep to a European bank, on a date you can plan a session around.
Why it exists
Getting there was never the hard part
Anglers have no trouble getting themselves to Europe. Getting their gear there is the problem, and it has been the same problem for years.
An airline allowance decides what you take. Two rods instead of four. A borrowed sleeping bag instead of your bedchair. No bait boat, no barrow, no cool box, and a rod tip that may or may not survive the hold. A parcel courier will move a holdall, but it does it through four depots and six pairs of hands, and it will not tell you which day it lands.
There was always a third option and nobody was running it properly: one van, going to the same water you are, on a date you can fish to. That is the whole idea, and there is not much more to it than that.
The operator
Rob Fisher
I’ve fished abroad for twenty years, mostly France — that is where it started for me and the friends I fish with, and it is still where most of the trips go. Over that time I have watched the industry push further into Europe and got to know a lot of fishery owners along the way.
What changed was people dropping out. Not because they had gone off the fishing, but because of the drive. Two days down, two days back, a car full of toll receipts, and half a week of annual leave gone before a rod came out of the bag. For anyone with a job and a family, it stopped adding up.
So I started taking their gear for them. They would fly out, fish, and fly home inside the week, and their kit would be waiting on the bank when they arrived. A favour for a few mates, for a small fee.
Enough people turned out to have the same problem that it became the job.
Two days down, two days back, and half a week’s leave gone before a rod came out of the bag. People weren’t giving up the fishing. They were giving up the drive. Rob Fisher · Founder, Tackle Taxi
How we work
Five things that will not change
Not values on a wall. These are the decisions the operation is actually built on, and the ones that would have to break before the service stopped being worth using.
One van, one driver
The person who loads your gear is the person who drives it and the person who picks up the phone. Nothing is handed over, so nothing gets lost in a handover.
Tackle only
No pallets, no general freight, no depot transfers. The only other things in the van are other anglers’ kit going to the same water.
Dates, not estimates
A departure is a date you can book a session around. If anything about it changes, you hear it from us before you hear it from anyone else.
Straight answers
If we are not going where you are fishing, we will say so. If your gear will not fit in one slot, we will say that too, before you have paid anything.
A vanful at a time
We would rather run one full van properly than three half-empty ones badly. The schedule grows when there is demand to fill it, not because a spreadsheet says it should.
The formalities
The company
Tackle Taxi is a UK limited company. If you want to check us before handing over several thousand pounds’ worth of gear, that is entirely reasonable — here is what you need.

Where are you fishing?
Tell us the water and the week. If we are already going, we will take your gear — and you will be talking to the person who drives the van, not a call centre.
